Love Letter – Inner Bully

My voice doesn’t compare. Coach Tony’s voice doesn’t compare. Coach Lynn’s voice doesn’t compare. Coach Mike’s voice doesn’t compare. Coach Neema’s voice doesn’t compare. All of our voices put together doesn’t compare.


The voice inside your own head will ALWAYS drown someone else’s voice. We can say all the right things. We can believe in you completely. We can give you all the advice in the world but at the end of the day, what you say inside of your head wins.


If you have self doubt, if you immediately complain, if you look for the negative, if you choose a fixed mindset then what you are doing is feeding your inner bully. Your inner bully gets stronger and bigger and everytime you approach a difficult workout or difficult situation in life, your inner bully takes over the moment.
How you talk to yourself is crucial to your success inside the gym but more importantly outside of the gym. You deserve the life that you want. You deserve the success that you’re after but you have to get rid of your inner bully in order to obtain it.


What are some ways to get rid of your inner bully? By switching “I have to” to “I get to”. By not complaining, whining or making excuses. By doing the right things when no one is watching. By practicing humility and knowing you will never know it all in life. By removing perfection from your expectation. By reminding yourself to be grateful. By realizing that movement is a privilege. By owning up to your own decisions and understanding you do control them.
