Definition of Mental Toughness:
“The ability to accept your reality, you may not like it, and choosing a productive response” – Lauren Johnson.
I’ve heard many versions of what mental toughness is, this by far is the best one I have heard.
We are all living in our own reality. In our own reality, we all have certain challenges we are facing. Some of them can be seen in public, some of them can be in your own private home and some of them may be within yourself.
And yes, it may suck. Mental toughness is NOT sucking it up. Mental toughness is NOT ignoring it. Mental toughness is NOT stuffing it all down in the pit of your stomach. Mental toughness is NOT making yourself a victim.
Mental toughness is realizing where you currently stand and choosing a response that will help you take a step forward in the right direction. The first step is accepting your reality and the second step may be asking for help or being transparent with someone or letting go of someone. The second step is your action step that will lead to a productive solution for you.
