"Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your behavior. Your behavior becomes your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny." - Mahatma Gandi.
What we say to ourselves ultimately becomes our reality. Our thoughts and words are so damn powerful and we need to be mindful of them.
I hear it all the time at the gym of athletes questioning their abilities as they go to lift a barbell or perform a gymnastic movement. Hell, I've done that so many times to myself that I've lost count.
So I get it. Doubt creeps in and the moment it does, we believe it. And once we believe it, our physical abilities diminish. Now we have to posses the physical abilities. We can't just "think" our way into getting stronger or faster.
But what has your thoughts been up to that point? Do you keep telling yourself that you won't ever get stronger or faster? Do you keep telling yourself that your body fat % will always be where it is? Do you keep telling yourself that you are who you are and nothing will change?
If that is the case, then you are right and you will never develop the physical abilities to accomplish certain goals.
Whether you are an experienced CrossFit athlete or a brand new beginner just starting their CrossFit journey, our thoughts will dictate our success. No one is exempt from that reality.
So if you want to perform better, learn to think better.
