Coaching Moment: Nobody Moves Perfect

Whether you have been doing CrossFit for 10 years or 10 days, nobody moves perfect, and that is ok.

But that is why we consistently refine our body position and movement patterns everyday in class.

We coach the general warm up, specific warm up, workout and cool down. In every phase that you move, refining your body position or movement pattern is critical no matter what the movement is.

It can be a samson stretch or air squat or pull up or snatch or anything else you can think of.

This is necessary because this is how you get into a more safe position to mitigate injuries. It is how you become more efficient on your movements which breed greater results for you.

Yes I understand you know how to do an air squat, but I can promise you that you can improve it. I know a push up may feel easy for you, but as you get tired your mechanics will break down. Running, rowing, biking or jumping all are a skill that needs continuous development.

The greatest shooter in NBA history, Stephen Curry, focuses on refining the most basic movement patterns for his shot. This is what has led to him being the shooter he has been in his career so far. If he went away from the basics or thought the basics were not enough for him, I guarantee you he will not be a 4x NBA Champion and future Hall of Famer.

We are never too experienced to refine our most basic movement or body positions.

Josh Melendez
